About
Montreal slow fashion designer Valérie Dumaine, currently based in Kingston, has been active in the fashion scene for more than 20 years. After graduating from LaSalle College in 1997, she completed a formative internship in London, England, and acquired experience as illustrator, patternmaker, and designer for various Montreal companies. In 2002, she was once again Europe-bound; this time, her focus was Berlin. She revelled in the German fashion scene and culture, acquiring a firm and definite direction. This experience became a major turning point in her career. In early 2003, Valérie Dumaine was back in Montreal working on the launch of her eponymous line. A year later, her first collection arrived in stores, first in Montreal and Ottawa, and then across Canada!
Valérie Dumaine likes to dig into the past; she creates refined and assertive womenswear, characterized by clean and elegant lines, that is meant to be fashionably timeless. In addition to being animal-friendly, all collections are entirely and sustainably made in Canada.
